Mr. Martin’s law practice is enriched by his 15 year career as a claims professional with two regional carriers. Prior to attending law school he was Vice President of Claims of the Millers Insurance Group with overall responsibility for that insurer’s nationwide claims operations. Additionally, he was Casualty Claims Director for Employers Casualty Company responsible for medical malpractice litigation, general liability litigation, and property claims, including leadership of the company’s Hurricane Response Team. He has had primary and support responsibility in medical malpractice cases, premises defense matters, insurance defense matters, insurance coverage matters, personal injury and death cases, deceptive trade practices cases, trucking cases, and numerous product-liability cases. He was judicially appointed guardian ad litem in an aviation case arising out of a fatal plane crash occurring in Hong Kong Harbor to advise the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Texas on a question of foreign law. He has been a principal trial-team member in defense of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company in asbestos premises litigation, including trial of a lung cancer case and trial of a mesothelioma case – both resulting complete defense verdicts.
